Kennington is located just South of the Thames directly below Cannon Street Station.  It is the home of The Oval cricket ground which was the first ground in Britain and second in the world (after the MCG) to host Test cricket.  Much of this area of Kennington is owned by HRH Princes of Wales.  You can get to London Kennington via the Northern Line Tube and get off at Oval Station.

From Kennington you can follow Kennington Park Road and Clapham Road which follows the old Roman Stane Street. This ran down from the Roman London Bridge to Chichester via the gap in the North Downs at Box Hill near Dorking. Another Roman road branched off opposite Kennington Road and went down through what is now Kennington Park and down the Brixton Road. It carried on through the North Downs near Caterham to Hassocks, just north of the South Downs.

Kennington is also home to The Oval Cricket gorund. It is often referred to as the 'Kennington Oval'. It is located in the London Borough of Lambeth and is the home ground of Surrey County Cricket Club. Traditionally it also hosts the final Test match of each English summer in late August or early September.
