Reducing your car rental excess
These terms and conditions are applicable to rentals in the UK ONLY.
Vroom Vroom Vroom does not sell protection products or excess reduction packages, therefore any quotes/enquiries MUST be directed to the supplier. The below T&Cs (including prices) are provided by the suppliers and may change without notice to Vroom Vroom Vroom.
Insurance can play a big part in helping you decide which car rental company you want to book with, and most times you'll need to know how much insurance will cost before you place your booking. This is understandable since sometimes the cost for the insurance is almost as much as the car itself!
If you've ever tried to figure out your quote inclusive of the Excess Reduction Insurance (ER), you'll know this is a hard task. Suppliers generally won't include this in quotes and it's quite difficult to get pricing for most rentals. The reason they won't quote for the insurance as it's something you have to sign up for on the day. They like to talk you through your options first and let you read their contracts before you add it onto your quote.
While this is fair, it's sometimes annoying if you need to know beforehand how much your rental will add up to. Below we've concocted a table of all suppliers and their fees per day for the ER, so you don't have to call every company in order to get a straight answer. While we can't supply copies of each contract, at least you can factor in the correct amount for your rental.

- Loss Damage Waiver is (unless otherwise state is included in the price of the rental) excess is £750 for standard, £1000 for Luxury Cars, MPV and Minibuses
- Risk Reduction Packages – Standard Cars (with an Excess of £750.00)
Risk Reduction Extra - This package covers the customer for any damage caused to glass, wheels or tyres at a cost of £4.00 per day.
Risk Reduction Plus - This package reduces the standard excess, from £750 to £150, at a cost of £7.00 per day.
Risk Reduction Premium - This package reduces the standard excess, from £750 to zero, at a cost of £15.00 per day. This package also includes glass, wheel and tyre liability.
- Risk Reduction Packages – Luxury Cars, MPVs and Minibuses (with an Excess of £1,000)
- Risk Reduction Extra - This package covers the customer for any damage caused to glass, wheels or tyres at a cost of £8.00 per day.
Risk Reduction Plus - This package reduces the standard excess, from £1000 to £300, at a cost of £14.00 per day.
Risk Reduction Premium - This package reduces the standard excess, from £1000 to zero, at a cost of £30.00 per day. This package also includes glass, wheel and tyre liability.
