Bury St. Edmunds formerly Beodericsworth is a town within the Suffolk County, England. It lies at the heart of the East Anglian Heights in proximity with the Rivers Lark and Linnet. The word "Bury" in the town's name roots from the German word "Burg" that means either fortress and or castle. The "St. Edmunds" on the other hand, refers to the famous Edmund King of the East Angles who died during a battle with the Vikings sometime in 869. The king later became a saint and the venue (Bury St. Edmunds Abbey) where he was buried became a famous pilgrimage site.
