Neuss is located in the North Rhine-Westphalia State, Germany. The Neuss Schützenfest is the festival of the citizens and marksmen. The importance of the gate is given by the fact that it is the only remaining structure of its kind from the six gates of the medieval town fortification.

The Saint Quirinus Minster is a Romanesque church built in Neuss in the 13th century. It includes a shrine with the relics of the city's patron, to whom the entire establishment is dedicated. As part of the city landmarks, one of the most representative parts of the building is the dome-shaped eastern tower. Since 2009, the minster has been ranked as a minor basilica through title.
