London City Airport - Convenient to the City in your hire car?
The City Airport – Where is it?
Someone has booked you a flight from Europe to the London City Airport.
They told you that it is conveniently located near London, but if you
get a London City Airport car rental, how do you get to where you are
going?
If you are picking up a London City Airport car
rental, London can be a smooth drive in on the A13 into the City on the
A1211 if it is not too congested. Because London has instituted a congestion charge
for the daytime during the week, it is important to get this sorted at
a petrol station or online (£5) before the day is out to avoid a pretty
stiff penalty. Whether you are driving your own car or a London City
Airport hire car, they will find you and will give you a ticket.
If you are returning a hire car, depots for Hertz,
Avis, Thrifty and Europcar are located in close proximity to the
terminal. If you need to park at London City Airport temporarily, an
added luxury currently available is valet parking at no additional cost
to regular short term parking.
If
your plans take you away from London into the counties of Essex and
Kent, the improved A13 takes you straight out to the M25. Traffic might
be heavy at first as you leave the Airport in your hire car, but after
about 3 to 4 miles, the A13 turns into what I would describe as a
proper motorway, zipping you to the M25 in no time. Hire cars are no
exception. If you need to go into Kent, you will need to pay a £1 to
cross the Queen Elizabeth Bridge.
