Europcar Terms & Conditions

The below T&Cs (including prices and taxes) are provided by Europcar and may change without notice to Vroom Vroom Vroom.

These terms and conditions apply to Europcar rentals in the UK ONLY.

This quote will include:

  • VAT
  • Stamp Duty
  • Collision Damage Waiver. Basic liability cover (CDW) for cars (not specialty cars, 4WD's, luxury models) has an excess of £600 (excluding local taxes and surcharges). Vehicle excess can be reduced by purchasing the Risk Reduction Cover upon arrival
  • Signified mileage amount (generally unlimited, see below for extra mileage charges)
  • Vehicle Registration
  • THW-Theft waiver
  • Vehicle licensing fee
  • Premium location fee

This quote will not include:

  • Price excludes a credit card fee to maximum value of 1.5% of your total hire
  • Excess reduction cover - Risk reduction cover reduces the damage excess from £600 to £0. Additional insurances and excess reduction available on arrival from £6.95 - £13.03per day (based on rental length). Details below.
  • Additional Drivers at £7.49 per driver per day to maximum of £74.90*
  • Age surcharge Young Driver - obligatory for 21-22 Years Old per hire £16.99, for 23-24 Years Old per hire £11.99
  • Extra mileage travel (if your mileage is limited, the limit can not be extended. Each mile will be charged by Europcar at £0.29per mile (after exceeding the limit). Rentals for 28+ are limited to 2500 miles per 28 day period.
  • Additional Equipment such as GPS* (£11.49 per day), Baby Seats* (£7 per day), Boosters* (£2.5 per day).
  • One-way drop off charges £35 domestic (conditions below).
  • Any extra charges for "out of hours" pick up and drop offs if applicable

* All extra add-ons under "not included" will attract additional percentage taxes and surcharges.

Driving Licence


There are 2 important documents/cards you must bring when collecting the vehicle:

  • a full driving licence for all named drivers.
  • A credit card which must be in the name of one of the drivers

The open licence should have been held for at least one or three years, according to the car group. If you hold a 2 part UK driving licence, both parts need to be presented at rental.

You agree that we may elect, at our discretion, to pass your reservation of a vehicle to another business with whom we have a referral arrangement in place. You agree that, if we do so, we act as agent for that other business. This means that when we pass your reservation over to that other business:
(a)we will have no further obligation to you; and
(b)your agreement for the rental of the vehicle will be with the other company and not with us.

Credit Cards

Credit cards usually accepted within Europcar are "American Express", "Diners Club", "Mastercard" and "Visa" Payment using credit(s) card(s) is (are) accepted in accordance with the limits authorised by your credit card issuer;

The credit card holder (in case of a prepaid booking) must be identified as the renter (the "Main driver" to be mentioned on the rental agreement). Such person must present his/her credit card (identified with the same name) at time of "Check Out".

Debit card(s): are NOT accepted at time of reservation or rental except: - "Maestro" cards issued by UK banks and for customers renting in the UK
If the hire period exceed 28 days payment will be deducted automatically from the card. Otherwise payment will be deducted at check in.

Age Restrictions

Minimum age for rental 21 years old, the maximum is 74 years, depending on the age group.

Young driver charge is 21-22 £16.99 per day and 23-24 £11.99 per day.

Young drivers are restricted to MBMN,EBMN,EDMN,CCMN,CDMN,CCMR,CDMR,CXMR,ECAN,ECAR,CCAN,CCAR,CDAN,CDAR



Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Loss Damage Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage. CDW is included in the rate and leaves and excess of £600

Theft Waiver (THW)

Theft Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of theft. THW is included in the rate and leaves and excess of £600

Windscreen tyres and glass protection

Windscreen tyres and glass protection is not included in the rates it is an optional service which will lower the Windscreen tyres and glass excess to £0. Windscreen tyres and glass protection comes at a cost of £4.34 per day

Risk Reduction Cover

Risk Reduction Cover is not included in the rates it is an optional service and is available for
1-2 days at £13.03 per day,
3-6 days at £10.43 per day,
7+days at £6.95 per day

Risk Reduction Cover Plus

1-2 days at £17.38 per day,
3-6 days at £14.77 per day,
7+days at £11.30 per day

Delivery & Collection

For private customers no Delivery/Collection Service is offered.

One-Way Rentals

Domestic one way rentals are available an extra charge £35 applies, please note one way from mainland UK to Northern Ireland is available and extra charge of £500 applies.

International

International One-Way Rentals are not allowed.

Overseas cover during the rental period is charged at £52.17

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.

Cross Border Rentals are not allowed with COMN and CNMN. It is also not allowed to enter the last-mentioned countries with all vehicles of Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Audi, BMW and Mitsubishi vehicles as well as with trucks exceeding 7.5 tonnes gross weight.

London Congestion Charge

A London Congestion Charge applies for vehicles entering or moving within the Zone from Monday - Friday between 07.00 - 18.00 - except on public holidays. Charges are £8.00 per day payable either in advance or before midnight on the day of entering the Zone. This charge increases to £10.00 if paid after midnight on the day of entering the Zone and the driver has until midnight on the next charging day to make this £10.00 payment. It is the CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY to register the rental vehicle and pay the charge. Europcar will not do this on the driver's behalf. Driver's will be liable to pay all penalties or fines related to late or non-payment of this charge plus a £29.38 administration fee for handling the penalty charges.

Customers with rental of 4 days duration and over will be asked to purchase a full tank of fuel up front and return empty

Satellite Navigation Hire Terms & Conditions

When hiring satellite navigation, the unit should be active and ready for use. You will be given the opportunity to inspect the equipment and upon acceptance you agree that the unit and its accessories are in good working order and are free from damage.

1a. We aim to provide You with a good service at all times, however, due to the nature of satellite navigation, it is impossible to provide a fault free service. The quality and coverage of the service is dependant upon various factors and may also be impaired by geographic, atmospheric and other conditions or circumstances beyond Our control. No responsibility will be accepted, or credit given by Us for network transmissions or reception conditions experienced during the rental period.

1b. We will not accept responsibility if the equipment does not use the best route or is not accurate with arrival times or does not get You to Your required destination.

Returning the Equipment

All equipment must be returned to a Europcar Rental Station only.

2a. If the Europcar station is closed on return, the equipment must be placed inside the bag provided and locked inside the boot of the vehicle. The equipment remains in Your responsibility until it is received by the terminating rental station.

2b. A valid Return Receipt is required as proof of return. Inability to provide this documentation will result in the full replacement cost (£244.69) of the equipment being charged to Your credit card.

Lost/Stolen/Damaged Equipment

You must take reasonable care to ensure that the unit is not lost, stolen or damaged. In the event Your equipment is lost or stolen, You will be charged £244.69.

3a. In the event of accidental damage, the equipment must be returned to Us and You will be charged up to £244.69.

3b. You are responsible for the replacement of all accessories should any of them be lost, stolen or damaged. The charges are as follows and are all inclusive of VAT: Windscreen Mounting Bracket £14.69, Vehicle Power Adapter £24.47, Carry Case £24.47.

3c. No waiver purchased from Europcar removes Your liability for lost, stolen or damaged units.

General

For security purposes, all equipment (including accessories) must be locked out of sight from unattended vehicles. In the event of experiencing problems during Your rental period, contact with Our Customer Service team or Your Rental Station must be made immediately upon detecting the problem. No credit will be given if a call is not made to Us or is not made until after the equipment has been returned.

We reserve the right to revise these Terms and Conditions and any rates at any time. Any changes will be communicated to You. By continuing to use the Service, You will be deemed to have accepted the changes. If the revised terms and conditions are not acceptable, You may terminate the Agreement without penalty. To terminate the Agreement, the unit must be returned to a Europcar Rental Station and a Return Receipt obtained.
