Ansbach, originally known as Onolzbach, is a nice city in the Bavaria region of Germany, located more exactly in the administrative region of Middle Franconia and being its capital at the same time. The history of Ansbach goes back to 784, when a monastery was erected on the site on which the city now stands. Ansbach became a town in 1221 and has registered a major growth ever since. According to the 2010 census, Ansbach has a total population of 40,253 residents and spans on a total area of 38.48 square miles.

Margrave's Palace is a spectacular place in Ansbach, designating one of the most important palaces in Franconia of the 18th century. The palace is now a museum where you can admire its 27 state apartments, including the Great Hall and Mirror Room which are decorated in an early Rococo style. The museum also puts on display the Bavarian State Collection of Ansbach faïence and porcelain. The museum features the Staatsgalerie, where you can admire pictures from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Frankish Open Land Museum is another cultural institution in Ansbach worth visiting. The museum features 60 original structures representing the rural past of Franconia. The museum also provides demonstrations of house building, baking and brewing. The people are friendly and they all wear traditional costumes. You will feel like you are carried away in the past. A cafe is also available.

St. Gambertus Church is an impressive three-towered church in Ansbach, with Protestant rite. Nevertheless, the church is worth visiting due to its amazing architectural style. You will also find here the Chapel of the Swan Knight, a Romanesque crypt and the burial vault of the Margraves.
