Saalfeld is a town in Germany, located in the district of Thuringia. It is situated by the Saale River 30 miles south of German cultural capital Weimar between Leipzig and Nuremberg. Thuringer Landesmuseum Heidecksburg is a wonderful castle located 5 miles away from Saalfeld and it should not be missed. The palace is a beautiful baroque castle with many rooms and interesting collection of arms and a natural history collection.
