Rome itself is an ecletic city encompassing the religious world centre of the Catholic Church, the fabulous ruins of the centre of the Roman Empire, and modern, everyday, bustling Rome. All of these seem incongruous, however they manage to live inside and beside each other with perfect ease. You can soon see why Rome was built to rule and dominate the world with everything being on such a massive scale, and built to last for eternity.

Rome as it is today is easily divided into two regions: the inner city, within the Aurelian Wall, and the sprawling outer city, with its suburbs. The Seven Hills that encompass the old community are the Capitoline, the Quirinal, the Viminal, the Esquiline, the Caelian, the Aventine, and the Palatine. The Capitoline was the seat of Rome's government for many years, and the Palatine was the site of some amazing structures such as the Palace of the Flavians. But sadly through the work of construction throughout the centuries, most of the Seven Hills are now hardly distinguishable from the adjacent plain.
As great as the Romans were, we are all aware of their road building skills! Why not test them out for yourself in your cheap hire car from VroomVroomVroom!
