Hertz UK registered vehicles may be taken to France. However, additional equipment may be required for vehicles being taken out of the UK mainland to meet the legal requirements of the country visited such as France. The renter will be required by law to present form VE103B and an authorisation from Hertz which also includes a Driving Abroad Fee. Please note that this fee includes AA continental cover and can only be purchased at time of pick-up. Click here to know more about rental qualifications and requirements.

According to one-way fee waiver issued by Hertz UK, one-way rentals are permitted between many locations within country of rental and in Continental Europe, inter-country one-way rentals are also allowed between selected major cities. The Hertz Rent-It-Here/Leave-It-There (RIH-LIT) option is subject to a one-way drop fee, although one-way rentals within selected cities may be free of charge. It is recommended you contact Hertz reservations to be sure.

Driving Licence Requirements

The minimum age for Hertz rentals in the UK is 25. Customers under 25 years old will be required to pay young driver surcharge. The driver must present a valid driver's licence for the duration of the rental in their own name, held for at least 1 year (2 years for some car groups). If the driver has been disqualified from driving in their own country, they will not be able to rent. Also, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended as local laws in some countries require foreign drivers to have an IDP.
