Paignton is a small town on the coast, located in Devon, England. A part of the unitary authority of Thorbay with Torquay and Brixham, Paignton is an important destination in the English Riviera. The town has a long history, being mentioned since 1086 as a Celtic village and now it has a population of almost 50.000 people. The city's name comes from the Celtic "Paega's town". Until the 19th century this was a small fishing village. The historic part of Paignton is located in the center of the city around the streets Winner, Church and Palace.

Kirkham House is a great old house, made from stone, perfectly conserved from medieval times. The exact date when Kirkham House was built is not known, but is somewhere between the 14th and 15th century. It is believed to have links with the church and is called "Priest's House", but there is no proof of this. This was the property of Ada Frances Jennings, who donated the house and a sum of money in 1960 for the renovation of the house. Inside the building there are replicas of pieces of furniture and tapestry in the medieval style.

Oldway Mansion is a large house surrounded by gardens built for Isaac Merritt Singer, the owner of Singer Sewing Machine. Unfortunately, he died before the construction was completed. Isaac's son, Paris Eugene did the rebuilding work in the beginning of the 20th century, inspired by Palace of Versailles and Place de la Concorde in Paris.
