Roissy is a commune in the Seine et Marne department in the Ile de France region in north central France and its located in the eastern suburbs of Paris, 14 miles from the centre. In 1810, Roissy annexed the neighbouring commune of Pontcarre. In 1822 Pontcarre seceded and was restored as a separate commune. Although it is a small commune and it neighbours Paris, it is a holiday attraction, where tourists can enjoy a quiet and relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Royaumont Abbey is a wonderful abbey located near Roissy, built between 1228 and 1235 with the support of Louis IX. In the 20th century, the Abbey was used as a military hospital by the Scottish Women's Hospitals, under the direction of the French Red Cross. The Abbey was also used as a filming location for the Catholic boarding school in Jean Delannoy's Les amities particulieres. It is a wonderful landmark that must not be missed if you are in the town.

Disneyland Paris is another fun filled amusement park with two theme parks, a retail, dining and entertainment district and seven Disney owned hotels.
