Ried is an island in the Wornitz River that passes through Donauwoerth. Originally, Ried was only inhabited by fishermen. The population on the island is still poor, but very nice and friendly. When on the island, make sure to visit the House of the High Sea building (Haus zum Hohen Meer) and the red house that houses a small yet interesting museum (Heimatmuseum) filled with interesting information on the local history and culture.
