Frenswegen Monastery in Nordhorn is a fine example of restored architecture formerly overgrown by plan life. The monastery was built in the 14th century. A lightning strike in 1881 destroyed the church consecrated in 1445. However, the monastery buildings were preserved, even the square, two floored cloister, the wellhouse, the bridge over the moat and an impressive cellar vaulting.

Tierpark Nordhorn is a small zoo that is the perfect place for both children and adults. There are many animals children can see, and there is even a petting zoo. The Vechte is the riverine landscape of Nordhorn, where many canals and rows of trees are a popular place for a walk.
