Siegburg literally means "fort on the Sieg River", but today, Siegburg is a beautiful German city. It is located in the Rhein Sieg Kreis district, in the Cologne administrative region of the North Rhine Westphalia state. According to a recent study, Siegburg has about 40,000 residents and an area of 23 square kilometers. It is obviously situated on the Sieg River, but also on the Agger and close to Siegburg you can also visit the former capital of Germany, Bonn and the city of Cologne. Siegburg was settled in 1064, when archbishop Anno II raised a Benedictine monastery in the area. A few years later, the city was mentioned in documents. As a holiday destination, Siegburg is great because it has a quiet area and beautiful surroundings.

Abtei Benedikter is the most important attraction of Siegburg. This is the starting point of the city, the monastery around which Siegburg was formed.
