Wildeshausen is a beautiful town in the Oldenburg district of the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. Wildeshausen is also the capital of the district. The city is situated on the Hunte River. In the mid 17th century, Wildeshausen was ceded to Sweden, as a clause of the Peace of Westphalia treaty, but in time, this became once again a German territory of the Lower Saxony. Alexander Church was founded in 814, according to historians. This used to be an important pilgrimage site after its completion in 1270. The building is the only basilica in the district of Oldenburg and the most important work of art that can be admired in the city of Wildeshausen.
