The Caves of Nerja are a series of caverns close to the town of Nerja, Spain. Stretching for almost 3 miles, the caverns are one of Spain's major tourist attractions. The caves were rediscovered in 1959 by five friends, who entered through a narrow sink hole, known as La Mina. Each of the galleries has a number of halls, areas where the walls, floors or ceilings close in to subdivide the main caverns.

Why not make a point of driving to the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary. It is the perfect place for everybody in the family to have fun and learn more interesting things about donkeys. Everyone who goes to Nerja should take an hour to visit and feed the donkeys and learn about the work which takes place there. Make sure you bring a lot of carrots for the donkeys, pigs and odd ducks.

Maybe you'd prefer the Church of El Salvador in Nerja which was built in 1697 and later was made bigger in 1776. In 1792 there was another addition to the church, and the plans were revised by the famous Spanish Ventura Rodriguez. The facade is built in a Baroque style and the ceiling is Mudejar. The main facade has a door that is framed by two pilasters and topped with an arch. It is one of the most beautiful churches in Nerja.

Then there's always The Aqueduct of El Aguila which is near Nerja, was constructed by Francisco Cantarero at the end of the 19th century to bring water to the old Maro sugar factor. It looks like a Roman aqueduct, with four floors of brick arcades that have a total of 37 arches.
