Haiger is a charming country town of Germany. It is situated in the Lahn Dill Kreis district, Giessen administrative region, in the Hesse state. Haiger has a large area of more than 106 square kilometers and a population of less than 20,000 residents. Heimatmuseum Haiger is the local hostory museum. It is a charming place, homed in old timbered houses. The houses in which the museum is hosted are located in the city center and they were built in the early 18th century. The museum was establish relatively recent, in 1978.
Stadtkirche Haiger is the village church. It was raised on the remnants of a pagan church. Eberhard von Trier consecrated it in 1048. The Romanesque building was beautifully decorated trough the years, but in World War II it was severely damaged. Fortunately, the wonderful frescoes remained untouched. This is one of the most important attractions of Haiger.
Weihnachtsmarkt is the Christmas market and one of the most important events held in Haiger through the year. The fair transforms the city center into a magical place.
