Wedel actually is located on the right bank of the Elbe River. The German town is situated less than 12 miles distance from the beautiful Elmshorn and 11 miles from the important city of Hamburg. Wedel was first mentioned in historical documents in 1212. Throughout the years the town has managed to develop a lot, although during World War II it has been almost completely destroyed.
