Dover Priory railway station is simply the main station in Dover which is located in Kent, England. There is another station which is Kearsney and that is situated just on the outskirts of Dover.
Dover Priory was opened on 22 July 1861 as the temporary terminus of the London, Chatham and Dover Railway (LCDR). It soon became a through station on 1 November 1861 once the completion of the tunnel though the Western Heights to gain access to the Western Docks area, where LCDR created Dover Harbour station was reached.
And as most places have them, the sinister side of this station was in 1868 when stationmaster Edward Walsh was murdered by an 18-year old Thomas Wells, who was a porter for the LCDR, after having rebuked him for bad work performance. Wells was then convicted and hanged.
