Omegna is a commune in the Province of Verbano Cusio Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 100 km northeast of Turin and about 13 km southwest of Verbania at the northernmost point of Lago d'Orta. The presence of ancient settlement in Omegna has been proved by excavations held in the frazione of Cireggio. The archaeological findings date back to the Bronze and Iron Ages. During the Second World War, Omegna was a centre of partisan resistance against the German-Fascist occupation.
