Anegada -  One Special Place Where Paradise Meets Corals and Ocean

snorkeling in the reef

Anegada
is the only coral island in the Virgin Islands' volcanic chain just measuring 11 miles by three, with its highest point being just 28 feet above sea level.

Amazing coral reefs encompass the island itself, this includes the Eastern Caribbean's third largest continuous reef, Horseshoe Reef.  With secluded sandy beaches which are protected by the reef.
It's name originated from the Spanish, meaning the "Drowned Land". Including Cow Wreck Beach, Flash of Beauty, Bones Bight and Windlass Bight, all beautiful beaches where you can expect to laze under the shade of a coconut palm or seagrape tree. These secluded, powdery white-sand beaches are what paradise is made of.

Offering clear springs that escape the coral beds that naturally support a variety of wildlife special only to the Virgin Islands area, including loblolly, frangipani, turpentine trees, feathery sea lavender and wild orchids. A nature trail awaits at Bones Bight, offering you a glimpse of the rare rock iguanas that are happily native to Anegada, or explore with the exotic birds at Nutmeg Point, possibilities are endless.
Here is the ultimate destination for numerous events within the British Virgin Islands including Kiteboarding, Sailing, Windsurfing, Fishing and more. Snorkeller's and scuba divers will of course delight in the reef's natural mazes, tunnels and drops, which are abundant with needle fish, mojarra, stingrays, parrot fish and many other forms of marine life, while those with a mind for getting wet will enjoy water sports, sport fishing and bone fishing.  You may also explore the wreckages of the Spanish galleons, American privateers and British warships. You will be spoilt for choice. But then on the flip side this mesmerising island offers an abundance of villas, cottages and small inns.

To reach Anegada, you can take the regular ferries from Tortola Island, as well as flights from Tortola, Virgin Gorda and St. Thomas, USVI, and anchorages at the Setting Point.  Certain vehicles including taxi's may be rented. VI Airlink are now offering schedule air service to Anegada from Beef Island Airport on various days also.

This is certainly paradise not to be missed! And even though VroomVroomVroom cannot offer you car rental here, that's no reason not to go!
