Michelangelo's Fort is an old edifice done under the management of Michelangelo in Civitavecchia. This was the project of Pope Julius II, who needed to defend the port of the city. Rocca is a castle which was originally built in Civitavecchia in the 11th century. As the building was degraded, it was destroyed and rebuilt in the 15th century, thanks to Pope Sixtus IV.
