Lamezia Terme, or simply Lamezia, is a nice city in Italy, located more exactly within the Calabria region, in the province of Catanzaro. The history of Lamezia Terme goes back to 1968, when it was formally created. However, the city's origins trace back to the 9th century, when the Calabria region was part of the Byzantine Empire. The territory on which Lamezia Terme stands today includes those of the former municipalities of Sant'Eufemia Lamezia, Nicastro, and Sambiase. According to the 2011 census, Lamezia Terme has a total population of 71,322 residents and spans on a total area of 61.87 square miles (160.24 sq km).

The Castle of Lamezia Terme is one of the city's most important landmarks. According to some scholars, the castle was built by Greek colonists or by the Bruttii.
