Basilica of San Gaudenzio is a beautiful church in Novara. It is the highest point in the city and dedicated to Gaudentius of Novara. The church was built between 1577 and 1690 following the destruction of the old Basilica, ordered by Emperor Charles V. The Basilica itself was built by Pellegrino Tibaldi. Novara Cathedral. Although from the outside the cathedral looks like a library, inside tourists will change their opinion. The construction of the church began in the 11th century and consecrated in 1132. The baptistry is a separate structure although functionally part of the cathedral. It is a palaeo-Christian building dating from the 4th and 5th centuries.
