The below T&Cs (including prices and taxes) are provided by Alamo and may change without notice to VroomVroomVroom.co.uk.

These terms and conditions are applicable to Alamo rentals in the UK ONLY.

This quote will include:

  • Selected vehicle or similar
  • Unlimited Kilometers unless otherwise stated
  • Third Party Liability
  • Theft Liability Waiver
  • Vehicle Licensing fee
  • VAT
  • Premium Location Surcharge
  • Complimentary Breakdown Service

This quote will not include:

  • Collision Damage Waiver
  • Excess Reduction.
  • Personal Accident Insurance
  • Rates for additional drivers
  • Any extra equipment such as GPS and baby seats*
  • Age surcharge
  • Petrol
  • One way drop off fees
  • Any Deposits needed when picking up the vehicle
  • Any extra charges for "out of hours" pick up and drop offs if applicable

* All extra add-ons will attract additional percentage taxes and surcharges.

Alamo Excess Reduction Guide

VroomVroomVroom.co.uk does not sell protection products or excess reduction packages, therefore any quotes/enquiries MUST be directed to Alamo.

  • Get it cheaper with halo travel insurance.
  • If CDW is purchased, standard liability £650 - £950 (excluding local fees and surcharges).
  • Accident Excess Reduction - £12.50 - £18 per day (excluding local fees and surcharges). This package reduces your liability to £100 (excluding local fees and surcharges).

Varies by age of renter, location, type of vehicle and rate. Note: ER does not cover certain loss or damage and cannot be waived in full. Please contact Alamo for further insurance information, specialty cars differ in excess. Subject to the Alamo Terms and Conditions.

Renter Requirements

​All drivers must present a full valid driving license. If the driving license is written in a language and characters different to those of the country of rental, an International Driving Permit is also required. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licenses from countries who are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation.

All renters must provide a valid photo ID such as driving license, passport or ID card. Visitors to Ireland must also provide proof of return travel and accommodation information while in Ireland.

Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if needed which may include an identity check with an external organisation.

Additional Driver

​Additional drivers must meet all renter requirements. Additional drivers can be added to the rental agreement if they visit any rental location and present their driving licence. A daily surcharge will apply.​

Additional driver charge is €9.99* per day (or €69.99* per week) ​for Alamo Home City.

Additional driver charge is €11.90* per day (or €83.30* per week) for Alamo Airport.

Age Requirements

Minimum rental age is:
​22 years for car groups: MCMR, ECMR, CCMR, CDMR.
23 years for car groups: IDMR, CCAR, IVMR, IWMR, CWMR, SDAR, SDMR.

25 years for car groups: FVMR, FVAN, PWAR, PDAR, LDAR.

Renters must have been eligible to hold a driving license for a minimum of 8 years. To rent Passenger and Cargo Vans renters must have held their license for a minimum of 11 years and for Premium vehicles 13 years.

Forms of Payment

All major credit cards (issued by either Visa, Mastercard or American Express) are accepted. All cards presented must be in the renter’s name. A security deposit plus the estimated cost of the rental will be taken at the time of rental. All vehicles require a deposit of €250.​

Cash, checks, prepaid cards, Diners Club and Discover Card are not accepted.​

Debit cards such as Visa Electron, VPAY and Maestro, cash, checks, prepaid cards, Diners Club and Discover Card cards are not accepted.​

Renters who wish to use a debit card (issued by either Visa or Mastercard) must have residence in Ireland, hold an Irish driving license and provide proof of employment with a pay slip that must be less than 90 days old.​​

For Alamo Airport: Debit cards are not accepted at any time. A major credit (issued by either Visa, Mastercard or American Express) card is required.​​

Exclusive Rates

Total charges include unlimited mileage, third party liability, road fund license and VAT. Damage waiver is not included and must be taken unless alternative coverage can be verified at the time of rental. Additional protection products may be purchased.

Inclusive Rates

Total charges include unlimited mileage, damage waiver with an excess including theft protection, third party liability, road fund license, and VAT. Additional protection products are available. Mileage restriction may apply. Additional surcharges may apply.

Super Inclusive Rates

Total charges include damage waiver, excess protection with zero excess including theft protection, third party liability, road fund license, and VAT. Additional protection products are available. Mileage restriction may apply. Additional surcharges may apply.

Driving License Requirement

Drivers must present a full valid national licence at time of rental, which must have been held for at least 1 year prior to the rental checkout. For Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton, Carmarthan, Pembroke, Aberystwyth and Llanelli the licence must have been held for at least 2 years prior to checkout for young drivers under 25 years of age.

Visitors to the UK

All visitors to the UK must present a full valid license. Licences issued overseas must be clearly identifiable as a driving licence, otherwise an International Driving Licence will be required. A Passport, ID showing home address and proof of entry/ exit into/ out of the UK (e-tickets acceptable) must also be produced if not a UK resident.

UK residents who hold the new photo card licence must also present the paper counterpart at the start of the rental. Endorsements are only shown on the paper counterpart so customers MUST produce both documents. Holders of the old style UK paper licence must also provide an additional form of photographic ID in the form of a Full Valid Passport, Armed Forces ID Card or a Police Warrant Card, no other form of identification will be accepted. UK residents that hold a non-EU licence may drive in the UK for up to 12 months from the time you become resident. After 12 months your overseas licence will be deemed illegal in the UK and it must be exchanged for the UK equivalent. UK residents that hold a non-UK EU licence, your License is valid until the age of 70 or for 3 years after becoming a UK resident – whichever is longest. A renter holding a non-UK licence must produce a full valid passport at time of rental. Holders of any licence that does not show the current address must also produce proof of current address in the form of a Current Credit Finance Agreement, Current Utilities Bill, or Current Bank Statement. All renters with a UK home address will need to pass an Equifax eIDVerifier as verification of residence at their given address. Any customer failing the check will not be allowed to rent.

If there is an unsatisfactory search result you will need to provide paper-based proof of identity such as a valid bank/ building society/credit card statement, utility bill (not a council tax bill), land line telephone bill (not a mobile phone bill) or a TV license that is less than 3 months old when you pick up the vehicle from the Rental Station.

Visitors to the UK will have their Passport and Driving License checked for authenticity by the ID Scan system at participating stations. ID scan is a scanning system which can detect fraudulent documents. Any customer whose documents fail the ID Scan check will not be allowed to rent.

UK Nationals residing overseas are advised to use a driving license of the country in which they reside or they will be subject to the above.

Collision Damage Waiver

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces the deductible in the event of damage or theft of the vehicle, when no responsible third party is identified. If CDW is not included in the reservation, it is available for purchase at the rental counter. Before purchasing CDW it is advised to determine, if a personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees. If CDW is declined, the renter will be required to pay these charges and seek compensation through their carrier of personal coverage. CDW is not insurance.

Excess Protection (EP)

Excess Protection (EP) is an optional coverage that reduces the applicable deductible. If EP is not included in the reservation, it is available for purchase at the rental counter. Before purchasing EP it is advised to determine, if a personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees. If EP is declined, the renter will be required to pay these charges and seek compensation through their carrier of personal coverage. EP is not insurance.

Cross Border

The Cross Border fee is €170.25* ​​per rental at Alamo Home City and €202.60​* per rental at Alamo Airport.

Vehicles can be driven in Northern Ireland and UK mainland. Travels to Europe mainland are not permitted.

The local branch requires a 48-hour notice period to arrange cross border travel. The notice period refers to two full business days between Monday and Friday.

Customers must always inform the rental branch of their intention to leave the country with the vehicle and require authorisation. Additional charges apply except for travels to Northern Ireland.

One Way Rentals

​All rentals where the vehicle is not returned to the same location as it is collected will be subject to a one-way fee of up to €150.

One way rentals from Dublin airport to Belfast airport are subject to a charge of €175.

One way rentals are only allowed within mainland Ireland only.

After Hours

Vehicles can typically only be rented and returned within the official opening hours. Please contact the local rental branch to enquire about possible after-hours rentals and returns.

Grace Period

One rental day is a complete or partial period of 24 consecutive hours from the start of the rental period. On return, a grace period of 29 minutes will be applied if the 24-hour period is exceeded before an extra day applies. Beyond this grace period, an additional day at the local rate will be charged.

Additional Equipment

GPS units are available at a cost of €15.52 per day or €​108.63 per week inclusive of VAT​ and PLF at Alamo Airport. GPS is on request and not available in all locations.

Baby/child seats and booster seats are available at Alamo Airport and cost as follows: €​13.49​ per day or €​​71.57​ per week (€79.98 maximum) and €10.80 per day ​or €54.00 per week (​€60.78 maximum)​. All charges are inclusive of VAT and PLF. Child seats are on request and not available in all locations. Customers will be required to fit the child seat/booster seat themselves.

Roadside Assistance

Emergency contact details for 24-hour roadside assistance can be found on the rental contract. Dependant on the circumstances, we reserve the right to not replace the vehicle and pass on specific repair/callout charges to the customer.

Roadside Assistance Protection

Roadside Assistance Protection (RAP) is an optional 24-hour emergency service including tyre and glass repair or replacement costs except when part of a larger repair, replacement keys costs and all recovery and call out charges as result of a fault caused by the renter.

RAP does not apply if there is a breach of the rental agreement or if a wrong fuel type is used. The renter pays a flat-rate fee that covers all roadside assistance services. Before purchasing RAP, it is advised to determine if a personal coverage is adequate to cover these charges. If RAP is declined, the renter will be required to pay any applicable charges and seek compensation from the carrier of personal coverage. RAP is not insurance.

RAP is charged at €7.04​* per day at Alamo Home City and €8.38* per day at Alamo Airport.

Delivery and Collection

Please contact the local rental branch to enquire about delivery and collection. Additional charges will apply.

Maximum Length of Rental

There is no maximum length of rental, however the customer will have to go to a local branch every 28 days to have the condition of the vehicle checked.

Refueling

Renters must return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the time of pick up. If the vehicle is not returned with the same level of fuel the renter will be charged a refuelling service charge based upon the fuel used.

The renter may choose to prepay for the refuelling service charge at the time of vehicle collection. Please contact the local branch for details.
