These terms and conditions are applicable to Budget rentals in Republic of Ireland
All prices quoted for car rental and/or additional products/services include VAT (Sales Tax).
If you cancel 48 hours prior to your pickup time there will be no charge. Cancellation after this time or if you do not pick up the car will incur a fee of EUR 40.00
Renters who wish to extend their rental may contact the Budget reservations department at reservations@budget.ie or 353 (0) 90 6627711 to confirm availability. Renters may be required to visit a rental station to sign the updated rental agreement. Extra days will be charged based on the local rate at the time the extension is made.
The renter must be over 25 years old to rent standard cars in Ireland.
The renter must have been eligible to hold a valid driving licence for 8 years of which 2 years must be at a full driving licence qualification.
To hire a people carrier, customers must have been eligible to hold a valid driving licence for 10 years of which 2 years must be at full driver's licence qualification.
To hire a premium car or a luxury SUV customers must have been eligible to hold a valid driver's licence for 12 years of which 2 years must be at a full driver's licence qualification.
For any customers that are aged 75 years and over, Budget would require the following specific conditions:
Each driver must show proof of identity at the start of the rental. All drivers must present a full unendorsed driving licence, held for a minimum of 2 years at the start of the rental.
In addition to this, when renting the following car groups, drivers must have been eligible to hold a valid driving licence for the number of years specified:
Customers with the new photo card drivers license must produce both the photo card and its paper counterpart.
Visitors from overseas must produce a driving license issued in their country of permanent residence, along with a translation into English(where appropriate for licences in different alphabets).
Only the renters or drivers approved by Budget are permitted to drive the vehicle.
Budget also reserves the right to ask pre-qualifying questions on your insurance history. You may be refused a vehicle based on the answers you provide.
Drivers with 2 or more unspent driving convictions or one unspent driving conviction from the list below will not be eligible to rent.
Please note also that drivers who have been disqualified (or anything similar) in the last 10 years will not be eligible to rent.
Failure to disclose any driving convictions may mean you are fully liable for damage caused to the rental vehicle or any third party.
Drivers must also have been eligible to hold a valid driving license for at least the number of years specified:

Additional drivers can be booked at step 3 of the online booking process for EUR 11.35 per driver per day.
When you hire a vehicle from Budget, the price you pay automatically includes a basic level of cover should you be involved in an accident or breakdown.
Please familiarise yourself with the below areas of cover, including cover for any damage or injury you may cause to a third party, and the excess amounts you will be liable for. It is our goal to make all our products and services transparent for our customers.
By law, this is compulsory and is included in your rental price, covering the driver or additional driver's legal liability for bodily injury or property damage to others.
Also known as: Third Party Insurance, Motor Liability Insurance or Legal Liability Insurance.
When you rent a vehicle with Budget, you automatically receive a basic level of roadside assistance included in your quote. Should you experience any mechanical difficulties with the vehicle, we will get you back on the road as quickly as possible.
However, Budget also offer additional services to support renters when common issues such as flat batteries or locked-in keys arise.
If your rental vehicle is damaged during the rental period, this will cover the cost of repairs. You will, however, have to pay a fixed amount towards the repair costs. This is known as the excess (see Excess Charge for amounts).

The excess charge amounts below apply to Vehicle Damage Cover and Vehicle Theft Cover.
At the time of rental you will have the option to purchase our Excess Reduction product, which lowers the excess amount you are liable for to ZERO, affording you complete peace of mind.
When picking up your vehicle Budget will require a pre-authorisation on your credit card equal to the excess charge amount. Budget will not require a pre-authorisation to be taken from your credit card if you decide to purchase Excess Reduction.
If CDW is declined a pre-authorisation of €5000 is taken for the duration of the hire. If a customer chooses to use their credit card as coverage for the CDW, a €25 admin fee will apply.

If your rental vehicle is stolen, this will cover the cost of replacing it (or parts of it). You will, however, have to pay a fixed amount known as an excess (see Excess Charge for amounts).

Excess Reduction provides peace of mind. The excess charge amounts that apply to Vehicle Damage Cover and Vehicle Theft Cover are reduced to zero, eliminating any financial liability in the event of vehicle theft or damage (excluding windscreen).

By taking Windscreen Cover, the excess payable on front windscreen damage is reduced to ZERO, removing all liability for any damage caused to the vehicle's windscreen glass. The rate is EUR 6.00 per day.
You get extra peace of mind when you add Roadside Assistance Plus to your rental. You're instantly covered for common problems like flat batteries, locked-in keys, flat tyres or running out of fuel - and you don't pay any call out charges.
The rate is EUR 5.00 per day.
Personal Accident Insurance provides extensive benefits in case of injury / death.
The rate of EUR 9.08 per day
Vehicle Damage Cover and Vehicle Theft Cover reduce your financial liability for damage or theft of the vehicle and are included in your quote by default.
By declining these coverages you are taking responsibility to arrange your own cover and assume full financial liability up to the value of the vehicle for losses arising as a result of loss or damage to the vehicle. Written proof of Vehicle Damage Cover and Vehicle Theft Cover in Ireland will be required when picking up the vehicle.
We recommend that you fully understand the conditions of cover provided by your credit card company when using your card for insurance cover.
Customers declining Vehicle Damage Cover and Vehicle Theft Cover are required to leave a pre-authorisation of EUR €5,000 on their credit card. An administration fee of EUR €28.38 applies for use of this service.
Vehicles are not allowed outside Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Cross border fee for vehicles traveling through or into Northern Ireland is EUR 34 per rental.
It is the renters responsibility to ensure all due tolls are paid within the correct time frame. More information about barrier free tolling is available.
Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel at the start of the rental. To avoid refuelling charges please return the car with a full tank of fuel. If the fuel tank is not full we will fill the tank and charge you for the fuel. Fuel is charged at market price plus tax.
Vehicle models illustrated on this site are for guidance only. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that a vehicle from the group reserved is available, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative similar model.
Garmin GPS Satellite Navigation Systems can be booked at a rate of EUR 17.05 per day. This charge will be included in your total quotation.
Child Seats (1-4 years) and Booster Seats (5-12 years) can be booked at step 3 of the online booking process at a rate of EUR 45.40 per rental. This charge will be included in your total quotation. Parents of children younger than 12 months are recommended to bring their own infant seat.
Estimated total includes base rate, taxes, and surcharges.
Items such as coupon discounts, child safety seats and gas are NOT included in the estimated total.
Optional coverages and one-way fees are subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total. Estimated total is subject to change based upon exchange rates at the time of rental.
Budget Car Rental accepts all major Credit Cards. The renter must present their Credit Card at the time of picking up the car. PIN enabled cards will require your PIN for authorisation. Debit Cards or specified value pre-paid Credit Cards will not be accepted.

Airport Terminal Instructions
Counter: Arrivals Hall
Cars: Within 100 metres of desk in a multi-storey car park. Occasionally at peak times, customers may be shuttled to the car rental centre to collect their car.
Returns: Return to car park.
Delayed Flight: If you are delayed and arrive outside of office hours due to a delayed flight, no additional charge will apply. This only applies if you enter your flight number when booking. We will meet all scheduled flights free of charge. If you are late, we will guarantee your rental for 4 hours. After this time your reserved car may be released and rented to another customer.
Out of Office Hours - Collection: Sorry, this service is not available at this location.
Out of Office Hours - Return: If the vehicle is returned outside of office hours the driver is liable for damage or theft until the car has been inspected by a member of Budget staff. You may return the vehicle out of hours if you request this at the time of booking. There is no charge for this service.
Payment Options
Payment by cash is not accepted.
Debit cards may be used to pay rental charges only.
Debit cards may not be used for the deposit.

A credit card in the name of the main driver must be produced at the time of rental.
The following major credit cards are accepted: MasterCard Visa American Express
2 major credit cards are required when renting the following car groups: G and K
In case of bookings made from North America to the Republic of Ireland a credit card number is a must when making the booking.
Traffic Violations
Renters are responsible for payment of any speeding, parking or other traffic-related fines in addition to a fine administration fee of EUR €30.00
Budget has no mileage restrictions.
